Rogue Hybrid Build

Postby Oazis » February 12th, 2018, 3:29 am

Hey guys,
I'm new on this server and I'm making a Rogue as my first character to farm me some money and items, but I was wondering if I could make it with a hybrid Farmer/PvP build because.. well.. it's a class meant for PvP right? xD
I never really played PvP and I wanted to give it a chance, Rougue seems to be a fun class to play PvP/WoE with the ability to strip people's gears xD Is a Divesting build worth trying at all?

The idea I had in mind for the build is something like this:

STR 60
AGI 80
VIT 40
INT 1
DEX 80
LUK 1

On the skills I thought about mainly Gank/Snatch, all divest skills and sword mastery 10

Do you think is worth a try or do you think it will become just good at one thing and not the other? (or even bad a both lol)

It's better to build towards one purpose, unfortunately. 40 VIT is way too low to be reliably useful in WoE, and normal PvP isn't very active at all. Splitting between DEX and STR both hurts your divest chances for WoE and damage output in PvM no matter what kind of build you're going for.

I think it'd both be more fun and faster to make a pure PvM rogue and then a second one for WoE.

Yeah maybe you're right, I'll make this one to PvM then xD
But how do I level a WoE char that has bad stats to level with no reset?

I leveled mine with Double Strafe lv 10 and a good bow. You can make yourself a santa poring composite bow, very cheap and go level @ Dark Frames, in Glast Heim.

The interesting part is you can have 99 dex, 90+ vit (which very good for WoE) and  20+ INT (to have a bigger SP pool, this will help you level up), get yourself Ninja suit + shinobi sash combo and you ll end up having a very good SP regen. Maybe you want to help your leveling with a slave priest as well. Hope that helps

I like the idea of dark frames, too. You can also go for Punks, the bow is a little more expensive, but with your total dex they are 2shot for sure. You get wss+yellow gems as well! (/gawi)

It depends on the situation and in conjunction with your own current lvl and how you divide stats making progress.
I recently met a relative new player to this game, so you would give advice to go for 60 STR first in this build? He or she will probably be doomed after that to make any sufficient progress meanwhile being stuck in a party lvl 10 cap game, with almost no possibility to make decent progress anymore. Only if you know what your are doing you could allow yourself to make builds like the suggestion was here and get away with it. New players will average get more grip on the game when getting get 3xAGI and  1xDEX first and when they get around 80 AGI / 27 DEX they still can decide, based on their experience meanwhile, which way they want to go. No Vit unless you are  want  to take on monsters hurting you in that area. 99 Dex, 90 VIT Bow is a very good suggestion build to demotivate new players. This will only work with enough knowledge. In that case you must make an very extensive guide how and where to lvl and how to divide stats. Suppose they will go for 99 DEX first. The suggestion to make a support acolyte or priest is good! If it was only for the warps alone you should make one.

I think you misunderstood me, Styx. I'm not suggesting to completely ignore DEX or AGI early on, I'm saying making a hybrid bow/dagger PvM/WoE rogue would take longer than making two rogues specialised for either. It's better to build a "pure" dagger build first, with something like 30-40 base DEX and then a healthy split between STR and AGI, or a "pure" WoE build with DEX and VIT, than it'd be to create a hybrid that does both kinds badly.

I do understand you quite clear and your message was clear also Berry, a Hybrid build is much more sensitive to build up indeed and certainly if you don't know exactly why and how.
Likely a relative new player could choose the Hybrid suggestion. However, a player needs a much more extensive guide for this and not just an end build and therefore I did quote you, because you made that clear more or less also.
