Homunculus Changes

Postby Allium » 2019-09-23 17:48 (Monday)

Hello OriginsRO,

Effective immediately, the cap for active Homunculus outside of Towns has been reduced from 5 to 3.The cap is calculated globally and not on an individual map basis. Active Homunculus in towns have not been changed and as per usual do not contribute to calculating the 3 Homunculus cap.

Thank you for your time.

Hello everyone!

Because some of you guys asked for a more detailed reasoning behind the recent change to the maximum amount of active Homunculus outside of towns, i will post this follow-up information here.

The team has always came to the same opinion regarding the "alchemist-train"; it is not what we intended as optimal gameplay or behavior and that it was very likely that we changed something about that in the future, which we did now.

We don't want to make char-leeching or homu-leeching such a "no-brainer". Having five AI controlled killers do basically everything for you and allow you to farm at places, where you normally couldn't farm that easily, does not feel right.

Some players went so far, that they started leveling all their characters just with the Alche-Train and all they had to do was play one active support role, the rest was on autofollow. This is not how Ragnarok is meant to be played.

Due to the recent increased player numbers, more Alche-Trains started popping up and it caused many reports and thus it started to become very time consuming to make sure, that all these Trains play by our rules.

In general terms, whenever we see that people are abusing some mechanics to obtain advantages we didn't expect, we'll evaluate what made it possible, and nerf it.

Thank you!
